Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office investigating officer-involved shooting in Turlock

Authorities are investigating a fatal officer-involved shooting in unincorporated Turlock. The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office reports that Major Crimes Unit Detectives are investigating the fatal shooting.

Around 3:51 p.m. on May 5, 2024, SCSO deputies responded to the 3100 block of North Quincy Road for a report of a suspicious person. The initial report said a white man had been trespassing while armed with a weapon. Deputies and a K-9 Officer with the Turlock Police Department located the armed individual.

SCSO says deputies tried several times to communicate with the suspect and attempted to de-escalate. The man allegedly refused to drop his weapon and charged at deputies without warning. A deputy fired his weapon at least once.

The suspect was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased. No deputies were injured in the incident. No additional details are available at this time.
