Pursuit of Coburg shooting suspect leads to officer-involved shooting in Oregon

An officer-involved shooting occurred in Oregon. No law enforcement members were injured, but one person is deceased and another person is injured. Oregon State Troopers responded to Coburg around 3 p.m. on April 28, 2024 to assist the Coburg Police Department and Lane County Sheriff’s Office with a shooting.

The shooting critically injured one of the involved parties. Authorities initiated a search for the other involved suspect. Around 6 p.m., a vehicle of interest in the shooting was reported as part of a driving complaint.

Linn County Deputies, Lane County Deputies, and Oregon State Troopers located the vehicle leading to a pursuit on Interstate 5. Authorities used spike strips to stop the vehicle which crashed along the shoulder of Interstate 5.

At the scene of the crash, Linn County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Oregon State Police troopers were involved in an officer-involved shooting. The driver of the suspect vehicle was fatally struck. The passenger was injured and transported to a hospital for treatment.

The Oregon State Police Major Crimes Team will be investigating the Coburg shooting. The Albany Police Department will be investigating the officer-involved shooting.
