Officer-involved shooting leaves one dead in Portland’s Hazelwood neighborhood

Update 1 – The Portland Police Bureau has provided an update on today’s officer-involved shooting. PPB reports that its Special Emergency Reaction Team served a search warrant at a home in the 100 block of Southeast 124th Avenue around 5:15. The warrant was related to a Major Crimes Unit investigation.

Around 6:34 p.m., an adult male allegedly fired at officers. The officers returned fire hitting the suspect. Around 6:38 p.m., the suspect was pronounced deceased. PPB says a firearm was located near the suspect.

All four directly involved officers will be placed on administrative leave.

Original – One person is dead following an officer-involved shooting in the Hazelwood neighborhood of Portland, Oregon. The Portland Police Bureau reports that the Major Crimes Team and the Special Emergency Reaction Team were serving a search warrant in the 100 block of Southeast 124th Avenue.

There was an encounter between officers and an adult male that led to an officer-involved shooting. As a result, the adult male was fatally shot. No officers were injured in the incident. During the investigation, several streets in the area will be closed.

The Public Information Officer is on the scene. PPB expects to hold a media briefing as soon as possible. No other details are available at this time.
