The Metro Nashville Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting on Sunday. MNPD reports that today’s fatal shooting claimed the life of a 25-year-old woman. The incident took place inside an apartment in the 900 block of 16th Avenue North.

At this time, the shooting is being investigated as accidental, according to MNPD. Detectives believe that a 3-year-old was handling a firearm brought into the home by the victim. At some point, the firearm went off striking the victim.
