The Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man in connection to a shooting homicide. According to NPSO, detectives have arrested a Natchez man in relation to a fatal shooting on Tuesday evening. Around 8:16 p.m. on May 7, 2024, deputies responded to the 100 block of LA Highway 119 in Natchez just south of the Natchez Place Apartments for reports of a shooting.

At the scene, deputies found a male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was lying in a ditch off LA Highway 119. Five detectives responded to investigate. 44-year-old Jonathan T. “Debo” Howard was pronounced deceased at Natchitoches Regional Medical Center.

Detectives say they obtained sufficient evidence and probable cause to obtain a criminal warrant for the arrest of 30-year-old Michael K. Wills. The convicted felon was believed to be armed. Around 9:14 a.m. on May 8, 2024, SWAT and other officers arrested Wills at a residence in the 1200 block of Old River Road.

Detectives report that they seized three semi-automatic handguns. Wills was booked into the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center on one count of Second Degree Murder and one count of Aggravated Assault with a Firearm. Other charges are pending.
