Lodi shooting incident leads to two arrests with one suspect still at large

Two individuals have been taken into custody following a shooting incident in Lodi. One suspect is still at large. The Lodi Police Department reports that it received calls regarding a shooting in the 100 block of West Vine Street around 11:21 a.m. on May 9, 2024.

Officers reached the scene where they learned that an occupied vehicle had been shot at by several subjects who fled to a residence on Vine Street. SWAT and the Critical Negotiations Team responded.

LPD reports that three male subjects attempted to flee the residence. A 14-year-old male and 19-year-old Edward Rodriguez were quickly taken into custody. LPD has identified Rodriguez as the shooter.

A third suspect, who is believed to be a juvenile male, has not been located. LPD does not believe there is an active threat to the public. SWAT and LPD detectives carried out search warrants at the location and recovered ballistic evidence, ammunition, and a Polymer 80 9mm handgun with an extended magazine.

Rodriguez was booked on charges of Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Resisting Arrest, Conspiracy to Commit a Crime, Gang Enhancements, and firearm-related offenses. The 14-year-old was booked into the Peterson Juvenile Hall. LPD says the victim was identified, but they have yet to come forward.

It is believed he was uninjured.
