Las Cruces Police Department searching for Isaiah Joseph Rea in Monday’s shooting

Update – 5/2/2024 – Las Cruces Police say 25-year-old Isaiah Joseph Rea was arrested following a police pursuit. Authorities believe Rea was responsible for the April 29 shooting on Princess Jeanne Drive. Rea was arrested in the 200 block of Three Crosses Avenue in Las Cruces around 1 a.m. on May 2.

The shooting on Monday claimed the life of 34-year-old Steven Sanchez.

Original – The Las Cruces Police Department is searching for a 25-year-old man in connection to Monday’s shooting on Princess Jeanne Drive. LCPD says the shooting took the life of 34-year-old Steven Sanchez.

Investigators obtained a warrant for the arrest of 25-year-old Isaiah Joseph Rea who is accused of killing Sanchez. At this time, Rea remains at large. Rea is facing one count of first-degree felony murder.

Around 3:30 a.m. on April 29, 2024, LCPD officers responded to a home in the 1900 block of Princess Jeanne Drive. At the scene, officers found Sanchez suffering from at least one gunshot wound.

The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. Police say they learned through the investigation that Rea was responsible for the murder of Sanchez. LCPD stresses that Rea is considered armed and dangerous.
