Kankakee Police investigating after 17-year-old shot in the foot

A 17-year-old has been shot in the left foot in Kankakee, Illinois. Authorities are investigating the shooting. The Kankakee Police Department reports that its officers responded to the area of South Osborn Avenue and East Hickory Street for a report of shots fired around 8:06 p.m. on May 4, 2024.

At the scene, officers found a 17-year-old male victim who said he’d been shot in the left foot. The victim told police that he was walking north in the 400 block of South Osborn Avenue.

The offender or offenders shot at him from a vehicle. Officers found multiple rifle and pistol shell casings at the scene. The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment for a non-life-threatening injury.

A homeowner in the 1500 block of East Hickory Street reported that his garage and vehicle sustained damage as a result of the shooting. KPD says no other damage or injuries have been reported.
