Update – Hagerstown Police say 50-year-old Cleo Hermon Brown was taken into custody around 5:30 p.m. The victim has been identified as 57-year-old Renee Elizabeth Shoemaker.

Original – One person is dead following an incident in Hagerstown, Maryland. A suspect has been taken into custody in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. The Hagerstown Police Department says officers responded to a welfare check in the 400 block of McDowell Avenue around 10:30 a.m. on April 28, 2024.

At the scene, officers found a homicide victim who was later determined to be 57 years old. Criminal Investigators and Forensic Crime Scene Investigators responded to investigate the murder.

HPD believes the homicide is domestic related. A possible suspect was apprehended in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. At this time, authorities are not identifying the victim or suspect. No other details are available.
