Update 5/2/2024 – A woman has been arrested in connection to a homicide in Birmingham, Alabama. According to the Birmingham Police Department, 38-year-old Lasha Patrice Thomas was taken into custody and booked into the Jefferson County Jail without bond.

On May 2, BPD detectives presented case information to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office leading to detectives obtaining a warrant for murder. Perry was fatally shot by his wife in the 1500 block of Cedargate Circle on April 30, 2024.

Original – One person is deceased in Birmingham, Alabama following a domestic-related shooting. In a video statement, Sergeant Laquitta Wade said that the Birmingham Police Department is investigating a homicide in the 1500 block of Cedargate Circle.

BPD officers responded to the aforementioned location just after 10:00 p.m. in reference to a domestic disturbance call. As officers were en route, the call was upgraded to a person shot.

Officers arrived at the scene and entered the residence where they found an adult victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue responded to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.

Based on the preliminary investigation, BPD believes a domestic altercation happened at the residence. The altercation led to shots being fired and the victim being fatally shot. A person of interest has been detained for questioning by BPD Homicide Detectives.
