Aurora Police involved in deadly officer-involved shooting on Saturday night

A suspect is dead following an officer-involved shooting in Aurora, Colorado. The Aurora Police Department reports that its officers were involved in a shooting near East 14th Avenue and Clinton Street.

The preliminary information indicates that officers responded to a call at the aforementioned location for a shooting around 7:45 p.m. on Saturday. The initial report suggested that a man had been shot in the leg.

The victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. At the scene, officers pursued the suspect in a Ford Mustang. Officers lost sight of the suspect vehicle and the pursuit ended.

APD reports that the suspect drove back to the scene while armed. Officers attempted to make contact with the suspect. Around 7:53 p.m., an officer-involved shooting occurred. The suspect succumbed to his injuries at an area hospital.

No officers were injured. The involved officers include a 4-year veteran and a 5-year veteran. No additional details are available at this time.
