A suspect is behind bars in connection to a double murder and a child abduction. The Abilene Police Department reports that 26-year-old Alek Isaiah Collins of Manvel, Texas was apprehended.

On May 5, 2024, the FBI notified APD that a suspect wanted in a Clovis, New Mexico homicide may be in Abilene. Officers located a residence in North Abilene where the suspect may have been staying.

The suspect was eventually taken into custody without incident. Collins was accused of being involved in the homicide of two individuals and the abduction of an infant. In the homicide, a 5-year-old was also injured.

The 10-month-old female who was abducted was rescued and taken into protective custody. Collins is being held on Aggravated Robbery and Assault on a Peace Officer charges. Additional charges are pending.
