A 70-year-old man has allegedly shot his female neighbor in Lockport Township. Will County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a shots fired complaint in the area of 144th Place and Rickerman Road around 5:37 p.m. on May 7, 2024.

Authorities were informed that a 45-year-old female victim had been shot one time by a neighbor. Witnesses advised that a 70-year-old had shot the victim outside and was walking around the property.

Residents were ordered to shelter in place.  At the scene, deputies provided life-saving measures to the victim who suffered a gunshot wound to the chest. The victim was transported to an area hospital where she underwent surgery.

The offender barricaded himself inside his residence. A crisis negotiator convinced the man to come outside with his hands up. The suspect was taken into custody without incident.
