A 20-year-old was shot earlier today in Evanston, Illinois. The Evanston Police Department reports that the 20-year-old victim was taken to an area hospital and is in stable condition. EPD officers responded to a call of shots fired in the area of Foster and Ashland around 4:50 p.m. on May 8.

At the scene, officers found a male victim. The victim was transported to an area hospital. At this time, EPD says it does not know the motive for the shooting but the shooting was likely not a random act. EPD reports that the offender or offenders fled the area and are no longer in Evanston.

EPD asks locals to avoid the area until the investigation concludes. No one is in custody at this time.
