A 25-year-old man has been arrested following a pursuit with Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies. WCSO reports a deputy tried to pull over a 2011 BMW X5 near Highway 217 and Southwest Walker Road around 2:41 a.m. on May 5, 2024.
The driver reportedly pulled over but sped away. The deputy did not pursue the suspect vehicle. A short time later, deputies saw the vehicle getting onto Sunset Highway and getting back onto Highway 217 traveling southbound.
Deputies followed the suspect vehicle and used a PIT maneuver on the BMW near Southwest 2nd Avenue and Southwest Franklin Avenue in Beaverton. Following the PIT, the driver fled from the vehicle. Deputies apprehended 25-year-old Nicolas Pena-Galvan about a block away.
WCSO says deputies found a pistol that Pena-Galvan dropped while running and later determined that the weapon was stolen. Pena-Galvan was booked into the Washington County Jail.
He is facing an array of charges, including Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Police Officer, Felon in Possession of a Weapon, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, and Driving under the Influence of Intoxicants. WCSO reports that Pena-Galvan will face additional charges.
