The Elkhart Police Department is investigating after a female was shot on Tuesday night. EPD reports that it is investigating a shooting in the 2800 block of South Main Street. Around 10:10 p.m., the 911 Communications Center received a report of a shooting at the aforementioned location.

At the scene, officers and first responders located a female gunshot wound victim. The victim was transported to an area hospital for evaluation and treatment. The investigation is active and ongoing.
