One person is dead and another is injured in a targeted shooting in Birmingham, Alabama. Officer Truman Fitzgerald said in a video statement that East Precinct officers responded to a person shot call on Interstate 59 South near the 1st Avenue North Exit just after 10 p.m.
At the scene, officers found a vehicle stopped off the roadway. Officers discovered two adult males inside the vehicle suffering from at least one gunshot wound. One victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The second victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. According to the preliminary investigation, BPD believes that an unknown suspect fired shots into the victim’s vehicle on Interstate 59 South.
It is believed that the shooting was targeted. No one is in custody at this time.
