Update 2 – The Portland Police Bureau said it is trying to track down the alleged killer of Sean K. Smeeden. PPB is searching for Moyasar Osman Mohamed-Ahmed. Since the evening of June 27, PPB’s Homicide Unit has been investigating the shooting death of 39-year-old Smeeden.
Detectives say they managed to identify the suspect as Mohamed-Ahmed. At this time, the suspect is not in custody. Detectives believe the 29-year-old may have fled the area and possibly even the country.
Anyone who sees Mohamed-Ahmed is asked to call 911 immediately.

Update – The Portland Police Bureau has identified the victim of the fatal shooting at the TriMet MAX platform as 39-year-old Sean K. Smeeden. The Medical Examiner determined that the victim died of homicide by gunshot wound.
No TriMet trains or busses were in the area when the shooting occurred. At this time, no arrests have been made.
Original – A person is dead following a shooting in Portland, Oregon on Thursday night. The Portland Police Bureau confirms its Homicide Detectives are investigating. PPB says North Precinct officers responded to the TriMet MAX platform at North Interstate Avenue and North Prescott Street for reports of a person shot around 8:30 p.m. on June 27, 2024.
At the scene, responding officers found a male victim deceased. No one is in custody at this time. PPB’s Homicide Detectives responded to the scene to investigate the shooting. During the investigation, a portion of North Interstate Avenue will be closed.
The MAX train will also be interrupted until the investigation can conclude.
