A Greensboro, North Carolina woman has been arrested for identity theft and forgery. In a media release, the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office announced that 30-year-old Elaysha Gabrielle Keels was arrested on April 26, 2024 by Greensboro Police Department officers.
Keels was released after posting a $5,000 secured bond. She is charged with Identity Theft, Forgery of Instrument, Uttering Forged Instrument, and Obtaining Property by False Pretense.
On September 13, 2024, PCSO deputies received a report about a fraud in which a business check for almost $5,000 had been forged. Detectives say they initiated an investigation and quickly identified a suspect.
Detectives obtained a search warrant for bank records. Later, detectives identified Elaysha Gabrielle Keels as the suspect.
