A man has been arrested in connection to a recent homicide in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Around 3 a.m. on April 29, 2024, Scranton Police Department officers responded to a report of a loud fight at 1711 Pittston Avenue.
Following the initial call, the caller reported hearing six gunshots. At the scene, officers found 32-year-old Walter Reyes suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim succumbed to his injuries.
SPD says officers also located 24-year-old Carlos Rivera at the scene. Police are describing Rivera a suspect in the fatal shooting. SPD believes the shooting is the result of a family dispute so there is no threat to the public.
Rivera has been charged with Aggravated Assault Injury with a Deadly Weapon, Murder of the First Degree, Aggravated Assault General, Reckless Endangering Another Person (Four Counts), and Murder of the Third Degree.
