New York Man Arrested For Driving While Intoxicated With Two Minor Passengers

New York State Police received multiple reports of an erratically operating vehicle on Interstate Route 86 on November 25, 2023. During a traffic stop, troopers observed a 40-year-old male driver displaying signs of intoxication.

Troopers determined the man was driving a motor vehicle while impaired. The vehicle had two minor passengers. The officers administered a sobriety test at the scene, which the driver failed.

The driver, identified as Matthew P. Barrick of Olean, New York, was arrested and charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with a child passenger less than 16.

A Drug Recognition Expert evaluation at SP Machias confirmed Barrick was impaired by drugs while driving. Troopers charged Barrick with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs and later released him.

Barrick has a court date scheduled for December in Allegany Town Court.
