According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the Homicide Branch is investigating a fatal shooting in Northeast DC. On November 25, 2023 at approximately 9:10 PM, Fifth District officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of Florida Avenue NE in reference to a shooting victim. Once officers arrived, they located a man being treated by DC Fire and EMS.

Police say the victim was taken to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. During the investigation, detectives say they determined that the shooting took place in the 1700 block of Benning Road NE. The victim has been identified as 34-year-old Daniel Lamont Adams.
