Anthony Mangiapane has been convicted of ethnic intimidation following a three-day jury trial

A Macomb County jury has convicted 56-year-old Anthony Mangiapane of ethnic intimidation and two other charges following a three-day jury trial. According to a press release from the Macomb County Prosecuting Attorney, Mangiapane was at his business in Warren on July 25, 2022 when the victim walked by on the sidewalk. Mangiapane was accused of yelling racial slurs and firing shots at the victim who immediately called 911.

Warren Police responded in three minutes to two locations meeting the victim and visiting the business. Police say Mangiapane refused to come out of the building and police found a rifle casing on the ground in front of the building. The forensic lab determined that the shell casing matched a rifle in the building that belonged to Mangiapane.

Mangiapane was found guilty of Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Ethnic Intimidation, and Felony Firearm. He is scheduled to be sentenced on January 24, 2024.
