Jackson County Sheriff’s Office investigating after homeowner fatally shoots suspect during home invasion

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide that occurred just after 2 AM in Shady Cove, Oregon. According to a social media post from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Emergency Communications of Southern Oregon ESCO 911 received a call that a homeowner had shot a suspect during a home invasion in the area of Cleveland Street. Jackson County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the scene. Mercy Flights medics attempted life-saving measures.

The suspect was pronounced deceased at 2:34 AM. Detectives say they are investigating claims of self-defense during the home-invasion burglary. Police say an occupant of the residence had a valid protection order against the suspect. At this time, there have been no arrests and police say all parties are cooperating with the investigation.
