The New Orleans Police Department’s Violent Offender Warrant Squad and the US Marshals have arrested a suspect in a November 7 homicide in the 8600 block of Castle Court. Just before 11:30 PM on November 7, 2023, New Orleans Police Department Seventh District detectives responded to a call of someone being shot at the location. Once detectives arrived, they found an unidentified female unresponsive with at least one gunshot wound.

Officers rendered aid. When EMS arrived at the scene, the victim was pronounced deceased. On November 10, 2023, the victim was identified as 39-year-old Cassie Picquet. The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office determined that the cause of death was from gunshot-related injuries. During the investigation, NOPD Homicide Section detectives identified Carl Wilson as the perpetrator in the incident. An arrest warrant was obtained on one count of second-degree murder.

On November 17, Wilson was arrested in the 3600 block of Coliseum Drive and booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center.
