The Prince Edward County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of a suspect in the fatal stabbing at the Countyline Market in Rice. Around 12:08 p.m. on December 31, 2023, the Prince Edward County Sheriff’s Office and Prince Edward County Emergency personnel responded to the scene of a stabbing at the Countyline Market at 27988 Prince Edward Highway in Rice.

At the scene, police found a victim suffering from stab wounds. The victim was transported to Centra Southside Community Hospital where he passed away. The Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim as 39-year-old Samuel Lee of Rice.

41-year-old Michael Webster has been charged and is being held at the Piedmont Regional Jail in Farmville. The Sheriff’s Office confirmed the investigation remains ongoing.
