The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is looking for Saul Garcia Macias in connection with a suspicious death. Deputies responded to a report of a suspicious death at a residence in the 1000 block of NW 111th Court in Dunnellon around 12:55 AM on December 10, 2023. Upon arrival, deputies located a female who sustained a gunshot wound.

The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. Authorities have identified the victim as 17-year-old Sofia Lugo. Marion County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes detectives responded and assumed control of the investigation. Detectives say the victim’s boyfriend, Saul Garcia Macias, is a person of interest. Detectives have been unable to make contact with Garcia Macias.
