Intruder fatally shoots two women in Hawthorne Park neighborhood of Willingboro

Update – The Burlington County Prosecutor LaChia L. Bradshaw and Willingboro Township Acting Public Safety Director Captain Ian Bucs have announced charges against a 37-year-old Pennsylvania man in the fatal shooting of 33-year-old Catherine Nunez and her mother 54-year-old Marisol Nunes.

Police say Junior Edwards of Lansdowne was charged with two counts of Murder, Home Invasion Burglary Armed with a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

The warrants were presented to Edwards in Philadelphia where he had already been taken into custody on unrelated charges.

Original – The Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office reports that it is investigating the deaths of two women alongside the Willingboro Township Police Department. Authorities say two women were fatally shot yesterday morning by an intruder inside their residence in the Hawthorne Park neighborhood.

BCSO says officers responded to the first block of Harrington Circle just after 4 a.m. for a report of a burglary in progress. Authorities say two women, 33-year-old Catherine Nunez and her mother 54-year-old Marisol Nunez, were found deceased.

Willingboro Police believe the intruder made entry through a first-floor window that had been broken. The intruder reportedly fled before police arrived. Police confirm that no arrests have been made.

The Burlington County Medical Examiner Dr. Ian Hood performed the autopsies and determined that the victims died from gunshot wounds. Authorities do not believe this was a random incident.
