Wali Shabazz taken into custody for fatal stabbing of Martin Gross Jr in workplace dispute

The DC Metropolitan Police Department has arrested a 49-year-old man in connection to a stabbing on Saturday. Homicide Branch detectives took the suspect into custody at the scene of the fatal stabbing.

MPD says First District Officers and Special Operations Division members responded to the 100 block of T Street Southwest for a report of a stabbing around 6:22 p.m. on April 27, 2024.

At the scene, officers found an adult male suffering from multiple stab wounds. The adult male victim was transported to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The victim has been identified as 41-year-old Martin Gross Jr. of Northwest DC.

MPD says responding officers detained a suspect near the scene of the crime. 49-year-old Wali Shabazz was taken into custody and charged with Second Degree Murder while Armed. Detectives say the victim and suspect were known to each other.

It is believed that the stabbing was the result of a workplace dispute.
