The Boston Police Department has announced that a suspect has been arrested in the slaying of Fermin Baez in 2021. According to a press release from the Boston Police Department, members of the Fugitive Unit arrested 19-year-old Zykaris Hamilton in the area of 450 Canterbury Street around 5 PM on December 11, 2023.

Authorities say the suspect was wanted on warrants for murder and unlawful possession of a firearm for the death of 32-year-old Fermin Baez. District B-2 officers responded to the area of 1510 Tremont Street for a person shot just before 9 PM on June 7, 2021. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male who’d been shot. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries before passing away.

The victim was later identified as 32-year-old Fermin Baez of Dorchester.
