The Worcester Police Department reports that it is investigating a fatal shooting on Brookside Avenue. According to WPD, officers responded to the area for a report of possible gunshots around 6:20 p.m.

At the scene, officers reportedly entered an apartment and found male and female gunshot wound victims. Police say the victims suffered serious injuries.

The female victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. The male victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

Detectives say they have started the follow-up investigation. No other details are available at this time.
