The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the deaths of four-year-old twins. On March 2, 2024, CCSO and Cherokee County Emergency Services responded to a call at 75 Gooseberry Road in Murphy. The reporting party was a father who arrived at the home of his separated wife to exercise custody of his four-year-old twin sons around 10 a.m. that morning.

Once he arrived, he learned that his sons were deceased. The mother of the twins, Genevieve Ellen Springer, was hospitalized in North Georgia. She is charged with two counts of First Degree Murder. When she was released from the hospital on March 2, she was arrested in Union County, Georgia.

On March 3, Springer was transported to the Cherokee County Detention Center where she is being held without bond. CCSO said the father last saw his sons alive on February 26, 2024. It is believed the offense on the warrants occurred between February 26 and March 2, 2024.
