The Portland Police Bureau announced an arrest of a woman in connection to a shooting in the Foster-Powell neighborhood. According to a PPB media release, East Precinct officers responded to the 3500 block of Southeast 79th Avenue for reports of a shooting around 4:25 p.m. on February 22, 2024.
On the way to the scene, officers learned that a 75-year-old male victim made his way to the lobby where he told witnesses he had been shot by a female who was leaving the scene. Officers used the suspect’s description to locate her attempting to drive away before safely taking her into custody.
The victim was transported to an area hospital with what is believed to be non-life-threatening injuries. Portland Police Special Victims Unit detectives assumed control of the investigation and recovered the revolver believed to have been used in the crime. 73-year-old Lana J. Strand was booked on a charge of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree (Domestic Violence) and Unlawful Use of a Weapon (Domestic Violence).
PPB said it is believed the suspect is the spouse or former spouse of the victim.
