Woman arrested for threatening employees with gun at Rumford Dunkin Donuts

A woman is in custody following an incident at the Rumford, Maine Dunkin’ Donuts. The Rumford Police Department reports that officers responded to the Dunkin Donuts at 158 Congress Street for a 911 call about a woman with a gun threatening an employee around 8 p.m. on Wednesday.

The caller reported that an unknown female assailant walked up to the drive-thru window at closing time and pointed a pistol at an employee after her request for entry to use the phone was denied.

Employees provided police with a description and photo of the assailant taken by a worker’s cell phone. The Rumford Police Department, Mexico Police, and Oxford County Sheriff’s Office began searching for the assailant.

A K9 was used to try to track the assailant from the scene. RPD reports that an off-duty Mexico Police Officer recognized the woman as 33-year-old Rebecca Sims. Officers set up surveillance at the residence while a search warrant for the home and arrest warrant for Sims were drafted.

The Maine State Police Tactical Team was called to help with the execution of the warrants. Just before noon, State Police Tactical Team members surrounded the residence and ordered Sims out at gunpoint.

Sims was taken into custody without incident. During a search of the home, RPD says four firearms were recovered. Sims was charged with Felony Criminal Threatening with a Dangerous Weapon and Threatening Display of a Weapon.
