The Wilmington Police Department is investigating a violent incident that killed one and seriously injured another. WPD reports that officers responded to an assist EMS call at an apartment in the 4200 block of Academy Cove around 3 p.m. on August 16, 2024.

At the scene, officers found one male victim who succumbed to his injuries at the scene. A second victim was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. The investigation is ongoing.

No one is in custody at this time.
