The Lake County Sheriff’s Office has announced a sentence in connection to a fatal shooting in Leesburg, Florida. LCSO reports that deputies found an adult male victim in the driveway of a residence suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.
The victim was reportedly in a relationship with a woman. Following the breakup, the victim saw a social media post of the female with another man. The defendant, Willie Washington, and the victim allegedly responded to the female’s residence.
Washington was accused of acting as a lookout after attempting to help the victim gain entry into the residence. The victim broke a window. The male inside armed himself and fatally shot the victim.
Washington allegedly drug the victim to the end of the driveway before noticing that he was no longer breathing. Then, Washington fled the scene leaving the victim behind. Authorities also say Washington took the victim’s firearm and vehicle.
On September 9, 2024, Washington pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 24 years. Authorities say Washington has a history of committing burglaries and a criminal history. He was convicted of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, 2nd Degree Felony Murder, and Tampering with Evidence.
