The Will County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a double shooting in Lockport Township on Saturday night. WCSO reports that a 911 call was received about a shooting in the 200 block of Nobes Avenue around 11:20 p.m. on August 3, 2024.
At the scene, deputies found two shooting victims in the roadway. A 65-year-old male from Lockport Township had been shot in the head. A 40-year-old female from Joliet was shot in the right foot.
Both victims were transported to an area hospital for treatment. The male victim was airlifted to a Chicago area hospital in critical condition. WCSO confirms that the female victim is expected to make a full recovery.
Detectives and CSI responded to the scene to investigate. Authorities say it was determined that gunfire came from an unknown vehicle that fled the scene following the shooting. The vehicle was traveling east on Nobes Avenue and continued east at a high rate of speed.
Witnesses lost sight of the vehicle when it drove past Green Garden Place. Detectives have not determined a motive for the shooting, but it is believed it was a targeted attack. Detectives say they have received no cooperation from the possible intended targets of the shooting.
No one is in custody at this time. Around 4 p.m., WCSO SWAT carried out a search warrant at a residence in the 200 block of Nobes Avenue related to the shooting. No other details are available at this time.
