The Wichita Police Department has announced an arrest in a homicide investigation. Around 11:56 p.m. on January 26, 2024, officers responded to reports of shots being fired in the area of 5200 East Kensington. Around this time, officers were also dispatched to an area hospital after two shooting victims walked into the hospital.

14-year-old Emoni Shears and 19-year-old Jhiquez Roberts were pronounced deceased. A 14-year-old from Wichita has been arrested on two counts of felony murder and one count of juvenile in possession of a firearm.

The investigation is still active and ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Homicide Investigators at 316-268-4407. WPD said the facts of the case will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office. The suspect will not be identified until formal charges are filed.
