The Westminster Police Department has arrested one man on several charges following a shooting incident on North Vance Street. WPD reports that officers responded to a report of shots fired at an apartment in the 9100 block of North Vance Street around 2 p.m. on August 5, 2024.

At the scene, officers learned that two deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Civil Division were at the location serving an eviction notice. The deputies were allowing the tenant to retrieve belongings when he allegedly armed himself with a gun.

One deputy was trying to disarm the tenant when the gun discharged. No one was injured. The male suspect was taken to the Police Department and booked on charges of Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm, Obstruction of a Peace Officer, and Reckless Endangerment.
