Freeport, Florida – The Walton County Sheriff’s Office said in a social media statement that it is investigating a fatal shooting on Piney Point Road in Freeport.
WCSO says one person has been killed. According to WCSO, all involved parties are still on the scene and all are cooperating with investigators.
The parties are known to each other. Authorities believe this was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public.
No other details are being provided at this time.
Update – The Walton County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of a suspect in a deadly shooting in Freeport. According to WCSO, 30-year-old William Matthew Hallman was arrested on an open count of murder.
Authorities say the charges stem from an incident over the weekend on Piney Point Road. At the scene, deputies reportedly found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.
WCSO says the victim was invited into the home and was not armed at the time of the shooting. Authorities also allege that Hallman made threats about shooting the victim earlier that evening.
