A 21-year-old Walla Walla man has been arrested for allegedly filming a woman in a public restroom at Whitman College. The Walla Walla Police Department reported that 21-year-old Maxwell M. Grady was arrested just after 2:30 p.m. on July 17 for Voyeurism.
Just before 11 a.m., WWPD officers responded to Pioneer Park where a woman reported being followed by a man not known to her. The man followed her at an extremely close, uncomfortable distance.
WWPD alleges that the man, Maxwell Grady, was still in the park and was pointed out by the female complainant. Grady was confronted by WWPD officers. Since no crime was committed, Grady was released.
Over the past several weeks, WWPD says it had received complaints about a man following and filming women near Walla Walla Community College on the walking path. Some of the women had taken photos of the man and reported it to police.
Officers compared the photos and concluded that Grady was the man in the pictures. At this time, no crimes were identified in connection to the incidents that occurred near the community college.
Around 12:40 p.m., officers responded to a call from Whitman College about a man who had just followed a female student into the bathroom and attempted to film her. The student managed to film the man and the video was shown to law enforcement.
Officers claim to have recognized the man as Grady. Officers found Grady at his residence around 2:30 p.m. and took him into custody. He was booked into the Walla Walla County Jail on a charge of Voyeurism 1st. Anyone with information is asked to speak to a detective by calling 509-527-4434.
