The Volusia Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of one of its sergeants on Thursday on a charge of domestic battery. VSO reports that Cody Cochran was arrested in Deltona following an altercation with his spouse.

Deputies responded to a 911 call around 10:21 a.m. reporting that the couple was involved in a physical fight. Deputies spoke to a witness who stated Cochran struck the victim in the face during the altercation.

The victim reported no injuries and indicated she did not want to pursue criminal charges. However, deputies determined that Cochran was the primary aggressor so he was placed under arrest.

VSO says Cochran was hired by the sheriff’s office in 2021. He was already on suspension pending the outcome of two internal affairs investigations unrelated to today’s incident. VSO confirms it has begun the process of terminating Cochran’s employment.
