The Virgin Islands Police Department has announced an arrest in the death of a 9-year-old female victim. According to VIPD, 32-year-old Anyah Smith was arrested for Murder in the First Degree and other charges in the death of her daughter around 11 a.m. on March 18, 2024.

Smith was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending her Advise of Rights Hearing. Around 5:22 a.m. on March 16, 2024, officers responded to Rumer Road in reference to a DOA. At the scene, Emergency Medical Technicians concluded that a 9-year-old girl did not have any vital signs.
