Utica, New York – The Utica Police Department is investigating a shooting incident on New Year’s Day.
According to a UPD media statement, the incident occurred in the 1500 block of Miller Street just before 6:30 p.m. on New Year’s Day.
UPD says it received an alert from Shot Spotter of numerous shots fired on that block. At the scene, an officer learned that a residence had been struck multiple times.
Police say no one was injured during the shooting. Officers found several shell casings and live rounds in the roadway. The Police Department said one witness described a sedan vehicle, which was possibly red in color, leaving the area northbound on Miller Street.
No one is in custody at this time. Police ask anyone with information to call Police at 315-223-3556 or Crime Stoppers at 1-866-730-8477.
