The Utica Police Department has announced the arrest of a suspect in relation to a shooting that occurred on Sunset Avenue. According to UPD, the department released information about a shooting that occurred in the 1400 block of Sunset Avenue on December 24, 2023.

The driver of a vehicle was struck three times by gunfire. The Utica Police Department Major Crimes Unit has been investigating the incident ever since. Surveillance video that showed the shooting was obtained. Witness information provided details about the suspect’s path from the scene.

UPD said this information and additional investigative work led to the development of suspect information. On December 29, the suspect was arrested and a search warrant was carried out at his residence. 18-year-old Isaiah Outten was taken into custody.

Outten is charged with two counts of Attempted Murder in the second degree, Criminal Use of a Firearm in the first degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the second degree, and Criminal Possession of a Firearm.
