Two wounded and suspect fatally shot by Vancouver Police near Library Square

Vancouver Police say two people have been wounded and a suspect has been shot by police following a stabbing near Library Square.

According to Vancouver Police, its officers responded to a 911 call from staff at a restaurant near Robson and Hamilton Street around 11:34 a.m.

Police say the caller reported a man had stolen alcohol and was armed with a knife inside the restaurant. Officers found the armed suspect inside a nearby 7-Eleven convenience store.

Vancouver Police confirm the suspect was shot by police and taken into custody. VPD says its officers and other first responders provided first aid to the suspect who died at an area hospital.

Two others were taken to the hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.
