Two shootings injured two people within 24 hours on the same street in Roanoke Rapids

Roanoke Rapids Police are investigating two shootings that occurred within 24 hours on the same street. Around noon on April 22, 2024, authorities say an unknown black male in an orange shirt shot towards Preston Street from the yard of 56 Madison Street. The shots hit a passing vehicle and two residences on Madison Street.

RRPD says the shooting was still under investigation when a shooting occurred on Tuesday. RRPD claims it had received no cooperation from the residents of 56 Madison Street. When a search warrant was carried out at the residence, Roanoke Rapids Police say they recovered ammunition and firearm magazines. The magazines were allegedly found inside a baby carrier. No weapons were found.

Halifax County 911 received a call about a shooting at 56 Madison Street around 9:30 p.m. on April 23, 2024. Officers learned that an unknown suspect shot into a residence from the front. It is not known whether the suspect was on foot or in a vehicle. Two victims on the front porch of the house were struck. The victims are identified as 36-year-old Quartisha Storey and 50-year-old Synthia Davis.

RRPD says David does not live at the address but Storey does. The victims are in stable condition. Police say the victims were uncooperative with investigators and provided no viable information. Witnesses were allegedly combative with law enforcement.
