The Cobb County Police Department has provided an update on the officer-involved shooting at Adventure Outdoors. Authorities said in a video statement that Smyrna Police Department Officers responded to a call of shots fired and a burglary in progress at the Adventure Outdoors.

Once officers reached the scene, they encountered an armed gunman inside the store. Gunfire erupted between the gunman and the officers on the scene. SPD officers and Cobb County Police Department officers returned fire.

Two police officers were wounded during the shooting. Both were transported to an area hospital where they are recovering. The suspect in the case was fatally struck. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has responded to investigate the officer-involved shooting.

The officers suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
