Two law enforcement officials are dead following a shooting on Sunday night. According to the Syracuse Police Department, officers encounter a suspicious vehicle in the area of Emerson Avenue and Hamilton Street around 7:07 p.m. on April 14, 2024. SPD says officers tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver fled from the area.
Although officers lost sight of the vehicle, they were able to obtain the license plate information. SPD says officers determined that the registered owner of the vehicle resides on Darien Drive in Liverpool, New York.
SPD officers and deputies with the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office responded to the address and found the vehicle parked at a residence on Darien Drive. Officers and deputies were approached by an armed male and an exchange of gunfire took place. One SPD officer and one Onondaga County Sheriff’s deputy were struck.
The suspect was also shot. The law enforcement officers and the suspect are deceased.
