Nogal, New Mexico – The Alamogordo Police Department has announced the arrests of two suspects in connection to a triple homicide in Nogal, New Mexico.
According to an APD statement, the 12th Judicial District Major Crimes Unit was activated on January 22 to investigate a homicide in Nogal. Three individuals were found deceased and a BOLO was issued for a vehicle linked to the scene.
Investigators traveled to Roswell and the State of Mississippi to execute search warrants and carry out more interviews. APD says an arrest warrant was issued for Kane Mayes and Cassandra Douglas.
Mayes is charged with three counts of Murder in the First Degree, three counts of Conspiracy to Commit Murder in the First Degree, three counts of Tampering with Evidence, and two counts of Unlawful Taking of a Vehicle.
Mayes is also charged with Aggravated Burglary, Arson, and Conspiracy to Commit Unlawful Taking of a Vehicle. He was arrested in Mississippi on January 29.
Douglas is charged with three counts of Murder in the First Degree. Douglas is also facing charges of Conspiracy to Commit Murder in the First Degree and Tampering with Evidence.
Douglas was apprehended in Roswell and transported to the Otero County Detention Center.
